Feed4ward designs, builds and validates SCADA systems for manufacturers across Pharmaceutical, Defence, Food & Beverage and Industrial sectors. As a certified Siemens Solution Partner we specialise in the Siemens WinCC platform within TIA Portal, delivered from specification through to commissioning.

What we deliver

New SCADA systems

From a blank-sheet requirement to a commissioned system: functional specification, tag database and PLC communications, operator process graphics, alarm and data logging configuration, reporting, and web-client access.

SCADA replacement and migration

Replacing obsolete or unsupported SCADA and HMI systems (including legacy WinCC versions and non-Siemens platforms) with current WinCC Advanced or Unified, while protecting production continuity.

Extensions and upgrades

Adding process areas, new PLCs, remote access, or reporting to an existing WinCC environment.

GAMP5 validated SCADA

For GMP environments: validation documentation (DS, CS, IQ/OQ/PQ), witnessed Factory Acceptance Testing, and 21 CFR Part 11 audit-trail configuration, run alongside the engineering rather than after it.

The Siemens WinCC platform

WinCC is a family of products, and choosing the right one is the first engineering decision on any SCADA project. In brief: WinCC Basic and Comfort are panel-level HMI products. WinCC Advanced is the standard PC-based SCADA platform for most manufacturing applications and WinCC Unified is the newer web-based platform we recommend where modern IT integration and long-term scalability are priorities. Our article WinCC SCADA: which version is right for your manufacturing application? explains the differences in depth, and Siemens WinCC SCADA: when do you need it? covers whether a SCADA layer is the right architecture at all.

SCADA in regulated environments

A SCADA system in a GMP production process is a computerised system in scope for GAMP5 validation, typically Category 5 (custom-configured) software. We deliver the validation evidence with the engineering: design and configuration specifications, test protocols and reports, and a validation summary, with FAT witnessed by your quality team. Our engineers work in both the Siemens engineering framework and the GAMP5 framework simultaneously, which is what regulated projects require in practice.

Specifications

Design and configuration specifications (DS, CS) written with the engineering, not after it.

Test protocols & reports

IQ/OQ/PQ protocols, executed test reports and a validation summary.

Witnessed FAT

Factory Acceptance Testing against a written protocol, witnessed by your quality team.

21 CFR Part 11

Audit-trail, electronic-record and user-management configuration for GMP environments.

How a project runs

Four stages, one team. We build our own control panels in-house, so where a project needs panels, PLC hardware and SCADA together, one team carries it end to end.

1 · Requirements & specification

Scope, URS/FDS, screen and alarm philosophy, architecture.

2 · Engineering

Tag database, communications, process graphics, alarm/data/report configuration.

3 · Factory Acceptance Test

Witnessed against a written protocol in our Portsmouth workshop or on site.

4 · Commissioning & handover

Installation, SAT, operator familiarisation, support.

Frequently asked questions

Do you only work with Siemens WinCC?

WinCC is our specialism and the platform we recommend for most applications, but WinCC communicates with non-Siemens PLCs over OPC-UA, and we regularly integrate mixed-vendor estates. If you have an existing non-Siemens SCADA, we can advise on migration options.

Can you take over or extend an existing WinCC system?

Yes. Extensions, upgrades between WinCC versions, and support for systems originally built by others are a routine part of our work. We start with a review of the existing application and documentation.

Do you deliver GAMP5 validated SCADA systems?

Yes, including full IQ/OQ/PQ documentation and witnessed FAT. Validation runs alongside engineering on our projects, not after it.

How long does a SCADA project take?

A straightforward single-site WinCC Advanced system can be delivered in 10-12 weeks from specification sign-off. A GAMP5 validated multi-vessel pharmaceutical system is typically 6-9 months. We scope timelines at the requirements stage.

We build our own control panels in-house, so where a project needs panels, PLC hardware and SCADA together, one team carries it end to end.

Specifying a SCADA system for a regulated environment? That conversation is most valuable at requirements stage.

If you are specifying a SCADA system for a regulated or industrial environment, an early conversation about scope and platform costs nothing and usually saves rework later.
